Volunteer

The input from volunteers continues to amaze us with incredible amounts of time and energy given generously to the development of the Ecosanctuary. Volunteers are crucial to the future of Orokonui as there is still much to do!

Volunteers are provided with direction, a safe walking environment and any equipment and materials needed including chocolates! Volunteers gain the satisfaction of contributing to a project that provides a legacy to future generations (not just of the human species), gaining new skills and meeting like-minded people.

Orokonui Ecosanctuary has 180 volunteers on the register and, in total, they spend an average of 900 hours per month. Some help on a one off basis. Others help regularly.  Some help as groups, some help as 'individuals' some are pro-bono professionals, others provide manual help.
 

At the moment we need new volunteers for:
• Planting and weeding
• Pest and fence monitoring
• Track building and maintenance
• Regular care of habitat areas
