Open hours:


Orokonui Ecosanctuary visitor and edcation centre and café are open daily from 9.30am – 4.30pm.
Open every day except 24th and 25th December (Christmas Eve and day)


Visitor Facilities:


Our impressive, environmentally friendly information centre houses a café with stunning views along Otago’s rugged Silver Peaks and the beautiful Waitati Valley. A souvenir shop sells eco-friendly, local products and there are informative displays that depict the history and the future of this inspirational project.
Parking – car, bus and campervan parking.
Luggage storage is available; ask at reception.

Disability access – our building has wheelchair access to all areas including the café, deck and surrounding landscaped garden.  Many wheelchair users are also able to access the first 450m of the main walking track inside the ecosanctuary.

Guide dogs are welcome at the Ecosanctuary.

Comfortable walking shoes
Suitable clothing for Dunedin’s variable climate – we recommend all visitors bring layers, including a waterproof layer
Binoculars
Your camera – remember to check your memory card and batteries!
