Governance
In 2000 the concept of the Orokonui Ecosanctuary was launched by the Otago Natural History Trust (ONHT) under the leadership of Dr Ralph Allen.
- The Board of Trustees comprises:
- Neville Peat - Chair; naturalist and author
- Stewart Harvey - Secretary/Treasurer; retired accountant
- Barbara Moerhuis - trustee; teacher with Kati Huirapa affiliations
- Kelvin Lloyd - trustee; ecological consultant
- Alyth Grant - trustee and volunteer
- Graeme Leith - trustee and volunteer
- David Mules - advisor; Area Manager, Coastal Otago Area, Department of Conservation
- Robin Thomas - advisor; Area Manager, Coastal Otago Area, Department of Conservation. Appointed by the Conservator, Otago Conservancy, Department of Conservation.
The Trust established a Orokonui Ecosanctuary Ltd. in 2007 to manage Orokonui Ecosanctuary as a financially viable enterprise.
